Mr Armes is a Chartered Accountant with over 16 years experience within the profession and commerce. He has previously held senior positions within mining and investment companies as well as acting as company secretary for ASX listed entities.

Dr Leigh F. Bettenay - Executive Director Exploration and Development
BSc (Hons) PhD, RPGeo, FAIG, FSEG, MAAG

Dr Bettenay is a Geologist and Geochemist with over 30 years experience in multi-commodity exploration within Australia and overseas, having graduated from the University of Western Australia with an Honours degree in Geology in 1972 and with a PhD awarded in 1978. Dr Bettenay is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG) and a Registered Professional Geoscientist of the AIG.

Dr Bettenay has directed a private consulting company (Inkanti Pty Ltd) since 1985 and has held staff positions in a number of companies including Principal Geochemist at BHP Minerals (1992-1995), Chief Geochemist at MIM Exploration (1995-1998), Chief Geologist for Homestake Australia (1998-2000) and Chief Geologist for Sipa Resources (2003-2008).

Dr Bettenay is an authority on exploration geochemistry techniques and teaches an Honours-level course at the University of Western Australia where he is an External Research Fellow. His uranium experience includes consulting to Uranez Australia Ltd (1988-1991).

Tim Gauci - Italian Consultant

Mr Tim Gauci is Energia’s Italian-based representative to assist with ongoing discussions with the Italian Government to secure the grant of its two key uranium project applications in northern Italy.

Mr Gauci has served as a senior diplomat representing the Australian Government between 2002 until 2010 with key postings in Vietnam and Italy, including as Australian Senior Trade Commissioner in Vietnam, based in Hanoi, with responsibility for developing Australian Trade and Investment with Vietnam.

Following this posting, he moved to Italy in 2005 to take up the role of Australian Consul General and Senior Trade Commissioner based in Milan, where he was responsible for Australian Consular Activities and Government representation, as well as Australian inwards and outwards investment and trade with Italy, Malta and Cyprus.

Prior to joining the Australian Government, Mr Gauci held a number of senior positions with Telstra including Country Director for Vietnam, where he managed the day-to-day operations of Telstra’s US$250 million telecommunications network investment, Business Development Director – Asia, and Country Manager – Vietnam “Worldcorp” Holdings based in Singapore.

Mr Gauci is currently the founder and Director of GCA Ltd, an International Investment and Trade Consulting and Advisory Company based in Milan, where he specialises in advising companies on foreign markets and developing appropriate high level Government contacts and negotiating Government processes and protocols.

Dr Marcello de Angelis - Consultant
PhD (Geology)

Dr de Angelis received a PhD in Geological Sciences from the University of Naples (Italy) in 1966 and has over 40 years experience in uranium and base and precious metals exploration and development in several countries worldwide. Dr de Angelis's last corporate role was formerly Executive Vice President of Agip Resources Ltd, 1992 and Managing Director of Pestarena Gold Mines SrL (Italy) to 2001. He currently directs a registered private company (Etruscan Gold Exploration Pty Ltd) and is engaged as consultant for a number of Australian listed and unlisted companies to implement uranium, gold and base metals initiatives in Australia and overseas.

Dr de Angelis’ most significant achievement is the discovery and fast-track development, between 1985 and 1990, of the Radio Hill nickel-copper deposit in Western Australia, with the adoption of the ISASMELT technology for matte production. In 1980 - 81 he led the exploration and evaluation team for the drill-out and field trials of the Mangingee uranium deposit for Minatome and Total Mining. He is a Registered Professional Geologist of the Order of Geologists in Italy and a member of Association of Mining Engineers, Italy.

Dr de Angelis is a non-executive Director of Raisama Pty Ltd (from October 2009).
