Northern Territory
Location McArthur (EL25272) is located 70km northwest of the major McArthur River lead-zinc deposit and has several small occurrences of copper, lead, barite and manganese. It overlies the unconformable contact between the lower McArthur Group sediments and overlying Roper River clastic sediments to the west, and therefore may be prospective for unconformity associated uranium mineralisation as well as sediment-hosted base metals in the basement along the major north-trending major fault zone separating these units. Location Westmoreland West (EL25269) is approximately 40km northwest of the Westmoreland uranium deposits. Bedrock is poorly exposed over the western two thirds of the Tenement and is interpreted to be underlain by Westmoreland conglomerate, the prospective host unit for the known uranium occurrences in the district. Location Ngalia (EL25264) lies in an area of poor exposure approximately 65km southwest of the major Bigrlyi uranium prospect owned by Energy Metals Ltd. It straddles the southern contact of the Ngalia Basin where the basal Vaughan Springs Quarzite overlies Palaeoproterozoic granite. Although no occurrences are known along this contact, there is potential for both unconformity associated and sandstone-hosted uranium deposits. Amadeus (EL25267) lies near the western margin of the Amadeus Basin, some 330km southwest of Alice Springs and 25km north of Uluru (Ayers Rock). The Neoproterozoic Winnall Beds crop out strongly to the south but there is no exposure within the tenement. |
